Why did you decide to become a singer and why?

I sing because it makes me feel good. Music is the basis of my sanity. It’s hard to explain but I look at my favorite artists like superheroes and I want to give people the gift of music the same way my favorite artists have done for me. I’m not the best singer, but I believe there’s something unique in what I do. I’ve gotten a lot of encouragement and compliments on my voice and I want to share it with anyone who’ll listen.

Who gave you the support to keep writing in the beginning? Who did you play the early songs for?

My friend Magic who’s also an artist was one of the first people to take a real interest in my singing and songwriting. We were supposed to do an album together at one point. I played song ideas or previewed songs live for him and my ex-girlfriend Samantha in the early stages of my songwriting.

If you were to give someone advice on life or how to start songwriting, what would you say?

My advice for songwriting is just to be honest and tell YOUR story. There’s only one you, so let’s hear about that person.

“I look at my favorite artists like superheroes and I want to give people the gift of music the same way my favorite artists have done for me”

How old were you when you wrote your first song and what was it about?

I was about 15. I don’t know if it was my very first song, but I remember writing a song called “Tell Me How to Wife It” haha yeah, I was definitely on some Jagged Edge “ Let's Get Married” shit at 15…lol.

What’s your recent song and what inspired you to write it?

The most recent song I’ve started writing is a song about keeping your composure and good energy regardless of how people may test you. I don’t have a definite title for it yet.

What’s next?

My first priority right now is to finish and release my first album, THE ACEfiles. this year. I want to shoot a video for at least two songs off the project.

What is your musical background?

I’ve never had any formal training in music or voice or songwriting. I sing by ear and I guess I just learned to write songs by listening to my favorite artists.

What are the main inspirations for the lyrics you write?

My lyrics are a direct consequence of how I feel. My lyrics are based on my experiences and thoughts.

What is your favorite song that isn’t your own?

I don’t have just one favorite song. It’s impossible to just pick one. There are so many moods and feelings that we encounter as human beings. As a reference to some of my favorite songs, I’ll just say that some of my favorite albums are Life Is Good by Nas, Off The Wall by Michael Jackson, Inner visions by Stevie Wonder, Extension of a Man by Donny Hathaway, Channel Orange by Frank Ocean, Ego Death by The Internet, Ctrl by SZA…I could go on…lol. Oh, and In My Lifetime Vol.1 by Jay-Z

What shows have you performed at?

I’m still haven’t done many shows because right now I’m focusing on building my catalog but I’ve performed at The Shrine and The Mercury Lounge in NYC.

How does music make you feel?

Music makes me feel a lot of things. It definitely empowers me. It uplifts me. It councils me teaches me and helps me make sense of things.

What job do you think you would be doing now if you didn’t have your music career?

If I wasn’t a musician, I’d probably be a music journalist, so I could at least be involved in music for a living somehow.
